Dataset Description
Puzzle-STAMPS — A Multimodal Motion–Physiology–Speech Dataset
Phase 1 — Pre-Task Baseline
Consent & Codename Assignment
Upon arrival at the laboratory, participants received a final briefing on the study objectives, procedures, and their rights as research participants, and each individual signed a written informed consent form. To protect participant anonymity throughout the recorded session, every individual was assigned a noble gas codename (Argon, Helium, Neon, or Xenon) and wore a corresponding nametag. Participants were instructed to use only these codenames for the duration of the study.
Baseline Survey
After signing the consent form and being equipped with sensors, participants completed a digital baseline survey covering lifestyle factors and trait-based psychometrics:
| Category | Item / Instrument | What it captures |
|---|---|---|
| Physiological Readiness | Sleep duration & quality | Previous-night and 7-day average sleep quantity and quality. |
| Time since last meal | Hours elapsed since the participant last ate. | |
| Caffeine consumption | Current intake relative to the participant’s typical daily habits. | |
| Prior Expertise | Escape room participation | Frequency and recency of prior escape room experience. |
| Puzzle-solving self-efficacy | Self-rated confidence in solving puzzles collaboratively. | |
| Personality & Social Traits | Big Five Inventory (BFI) | Five major personality dimensions: Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism. |
| New General Self-Efficacy Scale (NGSE) | Belief in one’s general capacity to perform successfully across a range of tasks and challenges. | |
| Social Skills Inventory (SSI) | Nonverbal and verbal social communication abilities, including emotional expressivity, sensitivity, and control. | |
| 20-item Bem Sex-Role Inventory (BSRI) | Individual differences in interpersonal warmth, friendliness, and approachability. | |
| Affective State | Mood States in Daily Life Scale | Six-item scale to measure the basic mood dimensions valence, calmness, and energetic arousal in people's daily life. It serves as a pre-task baseline for stress and workload analysis. |
